Unless the person riding along is from the same firm, there seems to be a huge potential for violation of the privacy of the prospect. Before ever doing such a thing, it is wisest for the person riding along to approved by a supervising sales manager.
Good ideas are only good ideas if they are also compliant.
Most ride alongs in any industry only include a fellow co-worker or colleague. It would be highly unlikely that a salesperson would enlist the help of a competitor.
Shannon,
My comment was directed to Mr. Luddy and while I respect your opinion, I know many originators who got their start at Wells Fargo and still feel more comfortable discussing loan issues with their former peers than the originators at their current firms. Of course, that is true when it comes to many of us who first worked at other lenders. I have also seen originators request help online related to problems they are having with loans.
I do not believe that anyone knows what goes on “behind the curtain” especially since there is so little direct supervision of originators who work in the field rather than in “call centers.”
Board recommendations whose actions must be limited, demand caveats, if not from the recommender, then from the audience being addressed.
Shannon,
The first word in the last paragraph in my reply to you should have been “broad” rather than board. Sorry about that. I must have thinking about how many feet of lumber, I need for a project or about trying to find out how to qualify for positions on a board of directors I have been looking into.
of course your colleague needs to be with your company
John,
We could go round and round as colleague has a wider meaning than just one who works at the same firm such as ally or collaborator. I do not doubt you meant someone at the same firm but not everyone understands the restrictions regarding privacy as you and Shannon do. Even more in this industry many originators work at firms where the nearest coworker is in another state but friendly competitors are just a few miles away.
