Shannon,
Another really good marketing idea. I have used many stories in my presentations but NEVER consciously to break the ice. I will be practicing that to see how warms prospects up.
You are right, people love stories. In fact that is what the President of the FPA said in a recent RMD story about the difference between the presentation of a reverse mortgage executive from FAR and other presentations from reverse mortgage participants whom she heard recently at a conference. She did not say if the others told stories but she said this one person from FAR stood out and shined because of the stories he told that were experiences relevant to the practices of financial planners. That presentation was so impressive that the FPA has launched a special relationship with the company that person represents.
The FPA story is a lesson we can all learn from.
I send out Evidence of Success emails every month and always get responses from clients who are still deciding as well as past clients. Story telling is a great way to help seniors get past their fears and move toward a better financial future.
