5 Affirmations for Reverse Pros

5 practical affirmations to start your day

Our first few minutes of the day are the most important. It’s a time that I try to use to get my head straight. To clear the detritus of the previous days and get myself into a mindset to achieve my goals and be the best version of myself for my family, clients, and friends.

One way to accomplish this is to begin with some daily affirmations. Not like Stuart Smiley but real rubber meets the road practical affirmations. Oh, what are affirmations? Basically, they’re short written statements you can refer to in difficult times or as a preventative measure.

With that in mind, there are five affirmations every reverse mortgage professional should consider writing down and adding their own to.

Affirmation #1:

“The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.” In other words, that which appears to be an obstacle is in fact the way- your path to reaching your objective.

Affirmation #2:

‘There are more things … likely to frighten us than there are to crush us; we suffer more often in imagination than in reality.” How true. The vast majority of what you worry about will never come to pass. Don’t believe me? Look back at some of what you worried about before- it likely never came to pass.

Affirmation #3:

“Don’t let your imagination be crushed by life as a whole. Don’t try to picture everything bad that could possibly happen. Stick with the situation at hand.” Focus on the task at hand. Live in the present moment focusing all your energy and thought on that which is before you.

Affirmation #4:

“From the very beginning, make it your practice to say to every harsh impression, ‘you are an impression and not at all what you appear to be.’ Next, examine and test it by the rules you possess, the first and greatest of which is this — whether it belongs to the things in our control or not in our control, and if the latter, be prepared to respond, ‘it’s nothing to me’. Your first impression of a situation may be misleading. Our initial reaction to a situation, event, or other people may in fact be deceiving us. It’s likely not what it appears to be. Don’t blindly trust your reactions but rather step back and examine them and if they’re true then decide if it’s something you can control or not.

Affirmation #5:

“Choose not to be harmed and you won’t feel harmed. Don’t feel harmed and you haven’t been.” The top performers in any given industry tend to have one trait in common. They’ve already decided how they will respond in a given situation or conflict. They don’t wing it based on their present emotional state. They’ve deliberately created a pattern they’ll fall back on.

Did you enjoy these affirmations? If so I would recommend adding your own and printing them out and put them in a protective sleeve to read first thing each morning. What harm can be done by strengthening your mind- the citadel of your soul?
