If my 79-year-old mother-in-law can Zoom, so can you

Why it’s time to ditch the phone for most of your professional remote conversations…

Good for that mother-in-law but once again this shows how far reaching and meaningful the adoption of an app like Zoom can be even to our aging senior population base.

Those of us under 80 should have much less fear over using the Internet and apps like Zoom than those over 80. Older Baby Boomers were the first major adopters of the use of PCs (personal computers) in the workplace. Because older Baby Boomers were not young when we began adopting the use of PCs, we changed the workplace environment because the older generations may not have at first perceived the value of PCs but they experienced our increased and improved output.

The law department of a Forbes 50 Company that I worked at in 1983 adopted the use of PCs. By the end of the year the management of the department saw the cost of administrative staff drop by over 50% while the initial costs of the PCs were less than 20% of the savings from a reduced administrative staff. The savings did not stop there. The administrative staff has to paid the a little than the same each year, the cost of PCs in the first three years of their years was marginal to management.

So I would expect that those who are under 80 right now should be able to adopt to the use of apps like Zoom even if they were not part of the pc revolution of the white collar workers in the mid 1980s.

Shannon,

Good advice, I use Zoom all the time and it works out great, it is what is in today!

Thanks for the video,

John
