    I was displayed during the conference last week when presenters call Our borrowers customers

    They are not customers they are clients

      I take great pride in the fact that I am in sales that emphasizes customer education. I love Sig Sigler’s attitude towards sales and hope to achieve his perspective and standards when dealing with my prospects and borrowers

      Is there something shameful in having customers and doing our best to help them achieve their financial goals? Are you saying that those who deal with clients have more integrity? What is this mysterious difference you are so concerned about? A rose would have the same thorns, beauty, and fragrance by any other name; I thought that was a settled fact.)

      We are in the mortgage industry. I respect those who care for their clients or customers and disrespect those who do not care for their “clients” or customers. The name we call those we serve should not make a dime’s worth of difference in how we care for them. Being hung up in names helps no one nor does calling those you serve clients make you a better salesperson.

      The only ones who are designated by the leading trade association in this segment of the mortgage industry are NRMLA’s CRMPs. To be designated as professional in this industry, you do not need any formal education, you do not need any specific training like union journeymen, you just need minimal experience, pass an exam on reverse mortgages, and pass background checks. NRMLA’s official idea of a certified professional has yet to be endorsed by any official body whose members have a legal obligation to act principally as fiduciaries by law. If we get to that stage, argue away. As of now, your comment is interesting but not particularly persuasive.

      Where is your name on NRMLA’s list of CRMPs? By becoming a CRMP, you will take an important step in displaying your outlook toward being a professional in this industry. (By the way, I do not believe you were displayed during the NRMLA sessions but more likely disappointed because of speakers who called those we serve customers.)

      Let us all strive to serve those to whom we hope to provide or do provide reverse mortgages like those we love who are also 62 and older
