In 1986, I was a manager of taxes at a CPA firm whose principal partners were Jewish with thousands of clients and client related personnel. Rather than trying to have separate holiday cards for Hanukkah (or Chanukah) and Christmas, for decades they had been doing Thanksgiving Day cards with generic holiday greetings inside such as “at this time of year” and “at the holiday season.” It was effective and got responses unlike the Christmas cards other firms I had been with received. It also helped us remind clients about year end tax and accounting statement planning. It made us standout and was a very effective marketing tool.
